& Process

I interviewed earlier this year. First, a recruiter screened me. If they liked me, they passed my info to the hiring manager. If the hiring manager wanted to talk, a coordinator set up a phone interview. After that, I met the hiring manager in person (if local) or via Skype (if out of town). If I passed that, I had back-to-back interviews with other people all in one day, including a senior director and future teammates. In total, I had 10 interview sessions, some with the same person, over a few months. The process took a while because of missed and rescheduled interviews. Some questions felt too personal and unrelated to the job. Some interviews ran long. The final interview day was tough, with 5-7 one-hour interviews straight. It took them two weeks to give me a final decision. Pros: The coordinator was great and communicated well. Travel was covered for in-person meetings, and I got a quick, impressive tour. Cons: The process dragged on too long due to scheduling issues. Some questions were too personal. Some interviews went over time. The final day was exhausting. It took two weeks for a decision.

I had a phone interview with the hiring manager, although it was a bit disorganized. The call was rescheduled several times because the manager was either late or forgot about it. When we finally had the interview, which was split into two parts, the manager was really friendly and casual. They asked me about my past product management work, specifically about product launches, inventory management, and business plans.

After getting past the initial screening, I had a panel interview. It was with 6 people who I'd be working closely with, and they were from marketing and engineering. This all happened over 2 days. The questions were mostly behavioral, but there were a few more technical ones about how I'd handle tough, common job situations.
