So, first you apply online with your resume and cover letter. Then, the recruiters check if you're qualified. If you pass that, you'll likely have a phone or video call with a recruiter to talk about your background, experience, why you want to work at Nutrien, and if you'd fit in. After that, there might be one or more interviews, either online or in person. These could be with the hiring manager and team, and they'll ask about your technical skills, how you solve problems, and how you work in a team. They'll also ask behavioral questions like when you solved a tough problem, juggled different tasks, or convinced someone to do something. For some jobs, you might also have to do extra technical tests, case studies, or practical exercises. The last interview might be with higher-ups to see your skills, experience, if you're a good fit for the team, and your future potential. If you make it through, you'll get an offer, and they'll probably do a background or reference check before you start. The whole thing usually takes about one to two weeks, maybe more. Remember to use the STAR method for the behavioral questions!

So, first you send your resume, then a recruiter chats with you, then there's a technical or behavioral interview, after that you might meet with some stakeholders, and then they make a final decision. They're checking your skills, your experience, if you're a good cultural fit, how you solve problems, and if you generally fit what they need for the role.

we did a video interview where they asked me what I know about Nutrien and why I want to work there. I also had to describe a teamwork project and a relatable experience I had. Then there was a written part where I had to explain what safety means to me and provide my general information.

Behavioral Technical Coding

So after submitting my resume, I went through 2 interviews and was actually offered the job. But then they rescinded the offer because the company was restructuring and they had to postpone new hires. First, I did this Digital Interview thing where I recorded myself answering 5 questions, and I got to see the questions beforehand. They were mostly behavioral. Then, I had a video call with 2 people from the team I was applying to. They asked mostly about my technical experience with the job duties and also some behavioral questions. The whole thing from resume to offer took about a month. After I did good on both interviews, I got a verbal offer. But a few days later, while I was waiting for HR stuff and planning my move, they called again. They said I was definitely the one they wanted and they got approval for the job, but they weren't sure when they could send the HR documents because of internal discussions. They told me it was okay to take another job since things were uncertain for this role, even though I was really excited about it. A week after that, I tried calling the HR person I was talking to twice, but no answer, so I left a message asking about the position. About a week after that, I got an email saying that because of restructuring, they had to postpone new hires and couldn't move forward with my position. I'm so bummed about how disorganized this company is. I know they spent time and money on hiring, but I really hope they get their communication and organization sorted out. My hopes got up and then I felt totally let down when I was waiting for final confirmation that the job was off. The people at Nutrien, the HR folks and the interviewers, were all nice and professional, which I appreciated. But I hope they do better in the future with how they communicate and organize things. I hope future candidates don't have to go through what I did. They shouldn't have posted the job if they knew restructuring was coming. It wasted the time of the HR team, the Environmental Footprint team, and me.
