First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Nuro.
Machine Learning Engineer
Overall it was a good/neutral experience. There were two tech screening rounds. The first round involved an ML coding question that was pretty easy but had a trick to it. The interviewer initially guided me down a less efficient path until I figured out a simpler solution, which wasn't the best part of the experience. The second round was solely a discussion about my PhD research experience. I didn't receive any follow-up or feedback.
- Can we discuss one of your recent publications?
ML Engineer
I had two interviews, and they both went well. After that, the recruiter ghosted me. I reached out after 3 weeks and was ignored. It was very disrespectful. I don't recommend joining Nuro; their recruiters are very unprofessional. It takes barely 30 seconds to give a polite answer.
- Can you describe your experience and knowledge in Machine Learning?
Machine Learning Engineer
The interview process was super smooth and everything was well-organized. For the onsite interviews, they were really flexible with my schedule and managed to get me my first choice of day even with short notice. I applied directly through their website without any referrals. A recruiter reached out to me. Then I had two phone interviews: one focused on coding and the other on my previous experience. After that, I was invited to their HQ in Mountain View for the onsite. There, I went through seven interviews in total. One of these was a sit-down with the co-founder where I could ask all my questions about the company and their vision. The other interviews, including one during lunch, were technical. They involved a mix of coding challenges and in-depth discussions about my past projects and related concepts.
