Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Numerator.
Data Analyst/Data Scientist
It was a 4 stage interview process. First was a telephonic call. Second was a written test on call with 2 SQL questions. Third was a technical round where they asked questions about SQL joins, window functions, data viz, and projects, along with basic Python pandas. Lastly, there was a managerial round focused on my projects.
- Questions about SQL joins and rank were asked.
- There were also data visualization questions.
Data Science Intern
The interview process was overall a positive experience. It included two interviewers. One interviewer asked technical questions, covering SQL, cloud computing, coding, Pandas, and Python, while the other focused on behavioral questions to gauge interpersonal skills and experiences.
- Can you write a SQL query to find the second highest salary from an employee table?
- What steps would you take to optimize a query that is running slowly?
- Could you explain the distinctions between INNER JOIN, LEFT JOIN, RIGHT JOIN, and FULL JOIN?
Data Scientist
Started with an online IQ test, then a phone screening, followed by a take-home assignment and a presentation. The take-home was a huge amount of work. It was pretty discouraging to submit it only for them to not even review it before the presentation. Felt like they didn't respect candidates.
- Can you explain your approach to building a model?
