First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Nucor.
Chemical Engineer
It was an on campus interview, which consisted of two back-to-back panel interviews with three people each. Both panels asked the same behavioral questions in the exact same way. I told a small joke in the very beginning of the interview and someone on the panel continued their outburst of laughter throughout the entire interview. The questions were not difficult, but it was hard to concentrate and speak over the laughter.
- Can you give a brief overview of your resume?
Metallurgical Engineer
The interview process was pretty straight forward. I first talked to their representative at the university job fair. He suggested I find a suitable position and apply online, which I did. Later, I was contacted by my future supervisor. We scheduled an interview for the next week. During the interview, they asked me the usual questions about my ambitions, plans, strengths, weaknesses, and experiences. They also asked some technical questions about the process and equipment I'd be working with.
- Could you provide an instance where you enhanced safety in a previous work environment?
Metallurgical Engineer
I had a one-hour interview where they asked me personality questions. The interviewers were really easy to talk to. It wasn't too technical or personal, and seemed like they were really focused on finding people who fit their company culture. Overall, it was a good experience!
- Tell me about a time you failed at work and what you did about it.
