First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at NTT DATA.
Software Engineer Intern
We started with an intro to the role, the company, and its different project areas. Then, we did a group exercise where we had to collectively decide on a course of action, considering risks. This was followed by a one-on-one meeting and a technical interview.
- Tell me about a time you made a mistake on a software project.
- What would you tell your 4-year-younger self?
- How do you see yourself in 5 years?
Software Engineer
It was the usual interview process. First, an introductory phone call, then a meeting with HR to go over my resume and discuss my aspirations and what they offer. Finally, the technical interview. Personally, I think the technical interview should come first, so HR has a better understanding of the candidate's skills and can then make a more informed offer. Anyway, after the technical interview, which I believe went well without major issues and I answered all questions comprehensively based on my background, even showing interest by asking about their stack or technologies. I waited two weeks for feedback, which I had to request myself via email to HR. I never received a direct reply to my email, but instead got a generic message stating there were no open positions matching my profile. No real feedback was provided: whether the technical interview went poorly, if I'm not qualified enough, if they're looking for a more junior role, or if I'm too expensive. Nothing at all.
- Why do you think typing is important, and what led to the creation of TypeScript instead of implementing typing in JavaScript?
Software Engineer
The interview process had three stages. First, an intro call. Then, a technical situational interview. Lastly, an interview with senior management. The process showed me what the company looks for. I didn't get to ask my questions. I didn't pass the last stage. It took a long time to hear back, and I had to follow up a few times before they told me the decision.
- Could you describe the software architecture of a past project?
