& Process

The interview process included two rounds: a technical round and a manager round. The technical round focused on CCNA basics for L1 roles. The manager round assessed communications skills and knowledge of ITIL processes, ITSM, Change Management, and Problem Management.

The recruiter gave me a call about some lead engineering roles. I was interested and jumped into the hiring process. First, the manager did a technical screen. After that, I had two more interviews via video call at their office, which seemed to go well. Then, the WAN Technical Manager did a phone interview and gave positive feedback. Before the next two interviews, I had to take a psych test. The fourth interview was with the Managing Technical Consultant/Network Architect. This one was rough, the questions felt unclear and he got aggressive when I asked for details. He asked an EIGRP question about manipulating prefixes, and got upset when I suggested manipulating the metric, saying it should be bandwidth and delay. I mentioned I hadn't used EIGRP in years, and he got hostile, saying a CCIE should know. I think the question could have been clearer with a diagram. This interview shouldn't have been over the phone. Apparently, the recruiter said the role was actually Systems Engineer, not Lead Network Engineer, so I was deemed unsuitable. Out of five questions, I got three right, but the other two were unfair. Dimension Data wasted my time and money. Not sure why things went south after the fourth interview, felt like they were dishonest.

I applied on a Friday and my first interview was the following Friday. It was a technical interview with a senior engineer focusing on networking fundamentals. The following Friday, I had my final interview with the hiring manager and someone from HR. This one was more about behavioral questions and why I wanted to move to another country for Dimension Data. The recruiter called me the Tuesday after the final interview and told me to expect an offer that same day, which I did. The whole process was really quick and professional, totally unlike other companies I've dealt with where things take a month at a time.
