Accountant
So I spoke with someone, but it ended weirdly. They said they don't have openings now but are 'gearing up' for a new contract, so basically, I'm hired but not hired. Then they told me everyone has to act as sales staff and bring in clients or get repeat business. They suggested selling services to existing customers that aren't really needed, which could be a conflict of interest and get my CPA license pulled, or worse, be fraud. They also said if you don't bring in new work, you're fired even if you do great. That was a dealbreaker for me. Also, I'd have to drive 100 miles each way daily, on my own dime, which isn't 'built into the salary.' They're likely billing the client for travel and keeping it. To top it off, I checked and 3 clients listed on their website have never heard of them. Did they really think no one would check?
- Are you able to handle multiple projects while staying focused?
- Are you able to travel?
Controller Consultant
The interview process had 3 interviews total. The first was a phone screen, the second a video chat to learn more about you, and the third a technical interview. The first two interviews were alright, but the last one was really badly run. They only asked one accounting question, and the interviewer didn't even seem to know the answer. She was also disorganized and seemed to be having a bad day. The interview was only about 15 minutes, which is definitely not enough time to ask enough questions to see if I could do the job. I already had doubts about the company before the final stage, but this interview really confirmed why I'm glad it didn't work out.
- When starting a new role as controller, how would you assess the company's financial standing?
Curriculum Developer
It was a three-stage process. First, a phone interview with recruiting to confirm the basics. Then, the main interview was with the director of training, conducted remotely via Zoom after the initial phone call. Finally, there was an in-person interview with the president for a cultural fit assessment.
- How do you manage projects that move quickly?
- What's your reason for transitioning from academia?
- Can you describe your approach to prioritizing tasks?
Account Coordinator
The interview seemed to go well, the interviewer was nice and asked very few questions about my work history. I was told I'd hear back by last Friday, but I still haven't. I've tried calling and emailing multiple times, but their phones don't seem to work or have voicemails set up. The lack of professionalism from this company is really disappointing.
- What makes you prefer inside sales?
