Process Engineer
I had an initial phone call with a recruiter, then a phone interview with an HR rep, followed by a visit to the plant where I interviewed with 3-4 managers.
- Nothing particular stood out as difficult or unexpected.
Manufacturing Engineer
The recruiter posted the job and submitted my resume. The recruiter then called and conducted the first phone interview, saying I was a perfect fit. The Novelis HR team was involved, and I prepped by researching the company and reaching out to professional contacts. It took several attempts to schedule, and Novelis even missed a scheduled phone interview, which I found odd, but the recruiter apologized and said they were still interested and had an internal training conflict. When the phone interview finally happened, they unexpectedly included the hiring manager, which wasn't on the original schedule they sent, but I thought it was great to talk to them directly. However, the HR person asked all the questions, and the manager only briefly spoke about the position. They again said I was a perfect fit for the role's description, duties, and the questions asked. By the end of the meeting, they mentioned bringing me in within a week. The next day, the recruiter called to say they weren't interested. The whole process felt very disorganized from start to finish.
- Can you describe your most recent job?
- Do you have any experience working with facilities?
Process Engineer
The interview process included a recruiter call, an interview with the hiring manager, offer negotiation, and a medical exam. The initial recruiter interview focused on behavioral aspects, as well as experience with process engineering, projects, and improvements. The hiring manager interview went deeper into technical aspects like metallurgy.
