Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Novant Health.
Registered Nurse
First, I had a phone interview with a third-party hiring company. They asked some basic general questions and then some situational questions. After that, they set up an in-person meeting with my manager. The whole process was really straightforward and not difficult at all!
- Can you describe your previous job experience?
- In a situation where..., what would you do?
Nurse
First, HR will give you a call if they are interested in interviewing you after you apply. If that telephone interview with HR goes well then they will forward your resume to the hiring manager. The hiring manager will select your resume and contact you to set up an interview if they feel like you are a good candidate to fill the position. With covid they are now doing in person interviews using zoom on your computer or phone. If the hiring manger wants to make you the job offer HR will call you and make you an offer. If you accept, HR will send you an acceptance letter and a list and directions of how to upload forms they need for onboarding. You will also sign up for an employee health physical and drug screening. After that you make an appt to get your badge made. After the background check, drug screen, forms and physical and all is good, they will tell you the friday before estimated start date time.
- Why did you decide to apply for this particular job?
- Can you discuss your personal strengths and areas where you could improve?
- Could you recount an instance where you dealt with an upset patient or their family, detailing your approach and the resolution?
Registered Nurse
It was like speed dating, you had a few minutes to catch a nurse manager's attention and get them to invite you for a 15-minute interview later. The managers and units were at tables, and we candidates stood in line to pitch to our chosen units. We had about 45 minutes to talk to as many as possible.
