Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Northwestern Mutual.
Sales
it's a pretty simple interview focusing on culture and technical skills. mostly they ask you situational questions to see how you respond. there aren't really any right or wrong answers, just give it your best shot and see what feedback you get.
- How would you deal with objections?
Sales Representative
It was a really chill phone call. They mentioned you might have to do some cold calling, even though they said otherwise. Not many tough questions, and it felt pretty quick. I wouldn't really recommend this unless you're desperate.
- Tell me about your ideal job and why you'd be a good fit for it.
Sales
The interview process was straightforward, asking a lot about the kind of work environments I'm used to and what I'm looking for. They asked about my communication skills, my sales ability, and my network for selling insurance. I decided against it because it was commission-only and relied heavily on friends and family, but it might suit someone else.
- What kind of work environments have you been in before?
- What type of environment are you looking for now?
- How good are your communication skills?
