Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Northwell Health.
Technical Recruiter
I applied online and got a call about a week later to set up an interview. The recruiter who called didn't have much info to share. I have 10 years of recruiting experience and wanted to make sure they were looking for a true recruiter, not just someone to post jobs. The interview itself was more about branding and promoting the health system than assessing my ability to do the job.
- Tell me about your recruiting experience.
- How do you feel about a base salary with no commission?
- Do you think we can match your current salary?
Talent Acquisition Coordinator
The recruiter asked me questions from a worksheet. I didn't get a good vibe from the company. She also didn't respond to my thank you email, which was rude.
- Can you tell me about the most challenging situation you've faced at work?
Talent Acquisition Manager
I applied online straight to a job posting. Then, a recruiter called me around 6:15pm a few nights later. We spoke for about 40 minutes. The recruiter seemed to be reading from a script because she asked me the same question twice. When I pointed this out, she said she needed more information. After I answered, she acknowledged that she had indeed asked it already. She told me I would definitely hear from her again, but I never did, and it's been almost three months. It's so easy to communicate with candidates through Applicant Tracking Systems these days. A simple “ thanks, but no thanks” email just takes one click. So, thumbs down for professional courtesy at NSLIJ.
- Could you tell me how many people you have managed in your previous roles?
