First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Northwell Health.
Social Worker
I was contacted by the Director of Social Work and we set up an interview, they gave me a few date options, it went for about an hour. Then, not long after, I had a second interview with the Senior Administrative Director and the Director of Social Work, this one was shorter, about 20 minutes. They mentioned the talent acquisition team would reach out in a week or so. The Director of Social Work actually offered me the job unofficially before I even left the building. The official offer came about 3 weeks later from the talent acquisition team, though they weren't the ones who made the final decision. I was asked to apply online again. Then all the HR paperwork and an appointment were set up for 3 days from then.
- What motivated you to pursue a career in Social Work?
- What draws you to working in a hospital setting?
- What are your reasons for wanting to work at this particular facility?
Social Worker
First I met with HR. HR talked about salary and benefits, then asked some basic interview questions. After the HR part, she introduced me to the director. In round 2 with the director, it was more like a regular conversation, but she could tell if you fit the position.
- How do you handle situations where a patient becomes angry?
- What is your motivation for pursuing social work?
Social Worker
So this interview was a total catfish situation, I was given false info and then blindsided when I started. It was a long process with 3 people interviewing me: the RN case manager, the operations manager, and a social work staff member.
- Were you asked about mental health assessments and your comfort level with them?
