Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Northwell Health.
Planning Analyst
First onsite interview with the AVP. The interview was ok - behavioral questions were the major chunk of the interview. Second onsite interview with all the senior members of the team in Long Island. (Again half-day)
- What are your 5-year career aspirations?
- Can you identify the three main challenges in healthcare currently?
- What makes you the ideal candidate for this position?
Planning Analyst
I felt the phone interview went pretty well, but the person I spoke with never replied to my thank you email. After about 6 weeks, I had to contact the admin who set up the interview. I emailed her twice before the interviewer finally got back to me. Turns out, they'd already given the job to someone internal, which was a real bummer. I just wish they'd responded faster, maybe with a quick email saying the position was filled. It felt like a waste of time to be kept hanging on for so long. Also, I'm just really tired of interviewing for jobs that seem to be already decided for internal candidates, which feels like a critique of how 'equal opportunity' hiring often works. It makes me want to ask upfront if I'm actually being considered or if they're just interviewing externals to check a box. I don't think they can legally post a job they've already filled, but it's a really unfair system for job seekers, especially now.
- In your opinion, what are the three biggest issues currently facing the healthcare industry?
Analyst
The entire recruitment process lasted for six weeks from the moment I submitted my application online until the conclusion of my interview. I interviewed for an analyst position, and I found the interview to be quite straightforward. The interviewer focused on discussing my previous work experience and how I could contribute to the growth of their department. There was only a single interview session. I had my interview on a Thursday and received an offer the following Tuesday, which was quicker than I had anticipated.
