Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Northwell Health.
Accountant
The process was pretty simple, you talked with people on the team about the company and talked about your goals. Then there was an assessment at the end that someone on the team watched you do.
- What motivates you to join Northwell?
Staff Accountant
It was pretty simple. They went through my resume. Make sure you know how to do journal entries and P&L statements. There was also a timed 30-minute Excel skills test. It started with a phone screen, then an in-person interview on site.
- Can you tell me about your career aspirations?
Accountant
I applied for this position through my college's career office and had an in-campus interview. The interviewer thought I'd be a better fit for the financial reporting side of the hospital rather than the tax side, so he forwarded my resume. I didn't hear back for about a month, then they set up a 1-on-1 interview. During that interview, I was asked about my current job duties, to go through my resume, and why I wanted to leave my current job. They also had me meet with 3 different managers, which felt like their way of weeding out candidates rather than a good sign.
- How would you assess your skills?
- Can you tell me about your current responsibilities?
- Please walk me through your resume.
