My interview journey for the Production Engineer role was quite a rollercoaster. It started with a logical and personality test, which I passed. Then, a recruiter interview focused on my past experience and personality. After that, I had an interview with the Hiring Manager where we discussed my background and some personality-based questions. The feedback was positive, so my application moved to the Senior Manager. This interview also went well, with discussions about my work history and personality, and I received positive feedback again. The whole process took about 10 days. Soon after, the recruiter offered me the job, and I accepted. They asked for my references, which I provided promptly. A meeting was scheduled to discuss the salary and benefits. However, the day before this meeting, the recruiter canceled both the meeting and the job offer, citing a lack of battery manufacturing experience. This reason felt odd, especially since my semiconductor industry experience was the focus throughout the interviews with the recruiter, Hiring Manager, and Senior Manager. It's strange because semiconductor experience was listed as a requirement in the job description. I emailed the recruiter for clarification but didn't get a clear answer. I also reached out to the Hiring Manager, who said he'd investigate with HR, which only added to my confusion about his involvement. I followed up but heard nothing back. It was a heartbreaking experience, getting my hopes up with positive feedback and a job offer, only for it to be canceled without a clear reason. I've seen similar experiences on Glassdoor, making me wonder if this is a common practice at Northvolt.

Behavioral Case

I went through three interviews: First a general one with an HR manager, then one with my future engineering manager (questions were still very much based on experience, no trick questions or challenging tasks) and then I had a Case Interview. In the end the HR manager called me to go through an offer and also answered questions after I had received the contract.

I got contacted by HR at Northvolt via LinkedIn. After looking at the job description and company info, it seemed interesting. I asked HR about salary, and she said they don't share it upfront. I told her my current salary and that I was looking for more. She mentioned 3 or 4 video interviews, but it ended up being 6 video interviews. After the first one, I didn't hear back, so I emailed HR for feedback. She quickly replied, asking for the next interview the following day, which felt odd, like she was waiting for me to ask. After 3 interviews, HR asked me to do an online assessment, which I thought would have been an earlier step. After the assessment, I asked HR how many more interviews were left. She said just one more, the final one. That wasn't true either. The 5th interview was with the CEO. The first attempt, the CEO cancelled 10 hours before. The second time, 40 minutes before. Very unprofessional. The third time, the CEO showed up after I waited 10-15 minutes. After the 6th (final) interview, again, no word from HR. I followed up after about 10 days. The next day, I got an automated email saying they chose someone else and had no specific feedback. The whole process felt unorganized and unprofessional: no clear process explanation, no salary info, interviews and assessments out of order, poor communication from HR, and worst of all, no feedback.
