First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Northvolt.
Project Engineer
I was contacted via LinkedIn and then scheduled for interviews. The process was pretty straightforward and efficient, with modern talent acquisition methods. It was direct and to the point, without any unnecessary fluff. The process had two stages, followed by a quick follow-up.
- What drives you?
- Where do you see yourself in the future?
- Can you discuss your technical background?
Engineer
After applying, I had to do two tests: a logical one and a personality assessment. The logical test results were on a curve and I scored 9/10. The personality test was more complex, based on the Big 5 model. The first interview was with HR. She was really nice and asked general questions about my current job, my interests, and why I'm interested in Northvolt. She explained the hiring process and said she'd forward my CV because it was interesting. The second interview was with an engineer, and it was a really bad experience. The engineer was late, seemed bored, and annoyed from the start. They asked a few general questions about my career aspirations, explained the job details, and then gave me a logic problem. It felt like they didn't really know what they were doing or what to ask, maybe they had already decided not to hire me. I took a half-day off work for this. I was rejected after this interview. The whole experience didn't leave a good impression, and I don't think I'll apply again.
- Why Northvolt?
- What is the lamp question?
- Are you willing to move?
Engineer
The interview process involved three main stages: an HR screening, followed by an interview with the hiring manager, and then a final interview with the VP. Throughout these stages, general questions were asked along with some technical background inquiries, though they weren't deeply technical. The hiring manager also provided a good overview of their experience working at NV and what life is like in Sweden, which helped me to form a realistic perspective. The entire process spanned approximately three weeks.
- Can you describe how your past experience aligns with and can benefit the responsibilities of this role?
