It was a really good experience with nice people. They were focused on helping me understand the role and learn about the team, their backgrounds, and asked some fit questions. The vibe was really comfortable and relaxed. The HR team was a bit slow in providing updates, which could have been better.

I applied for the Northern Trust Gold Program back in March and heard back from HR at the end of the month. I missed the initial interview invite because I had no internet at home. HR was nice enough to let me reschedule, but it took a bunch of tries to find a time that worked for both of us since I'm currently working at another bank. We finally settled on a Monday at 12:30pm. They first said it'd be a 20-minute interview, then in the last email they said it'd only be 10 minutes. I prepped myself, and since I was at work, I had to find a quiet spot for the phone interview. But then, the HR recruiter called me 20 minutes *before* our scheduled time, which I found pretty disrespectful, especially since she knew I was working. As soon as I answered, she jumped right into the questions, so I had to rush out of the office. The problem is, the network connection where I work is bad, so she had to repeat questions a lot, and we even lost connection once! I was bummed, not just about the connection issue, but because I told her I was at the office and she was calling early, and she didn't even respond. She just kept asking questions. I'm not sure if that's their usual way of finding good people. Honestly, it felt like she was having a bad day and wanted to leave for lunch early because she seemed eager to hang up from the start. Overall, it wasn't a great first impression of Northern Trust, though I'm sure she doesn't represent everyone there.

HR contacted me, and then the first round was pretty simple, just basics. The next day, HR called to say I passed and scheduled the next round. The second round was with the second VP, who asked about my past projects and Java basics. It was a good interview. I waited for HR to give me feedback, but she never responded to my calls or texts. I just wanted an answer, but didn't get it. My advice is to not keep candidates waiting; whether it's a yes or no, communicate via call, email, or text so the candidate has peace of mind.
