First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Northern Illinois University.
Graduate Student
The interview process was straightforward and efficient. If you answer confidently and highlight your skills, you should be able to get the role. Just be aware that the HR part after acceptance might take some time, so you'll have to wait.
- Can you introduce yourself?
Graduate Assistant
The interview process was pretty intense. Make sure you really know your stuff for what they're looking for. My interview was about 2 hours long and totally technical. Just be honest and confident when you answer. You'll need to know about things like Hyper-V, server management, project management, SPCC, Windows server management, and printers.
- Can you elaborate on your understanding of Hyper-V?
- Tell me about your experience with server management.
- How would you describe your project management abilities?
Graduate Assistant
When you go to ask about the GA application process, you'll find no one to tell you about job openings. If you're lucky, you might get to apply for 1 or 2 positions. Most applications aren't reviewed properly; jobs go to those with recommendations. If there are few applicants with strong recommendations, they get an interview. How they select people is still a mystery, like a lucky draw.
- Can you tell me about your experience with MS Office or Databases or Designing?
