First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Northern Illinois University.
Teaching Assistant
I had a really thoughtful interview, they were looking for someone with experience. The labs were well run and the faculty and staff were great. The questions they asked me were directly about the job I would be doing and my experience in that role. Experience was definitely favored.
- Can you tell me about your biggest weakness?
Policy Analyst
I had two interviews for this role, and one of them was in person. The interviews were pretty standard, mostly behavioral questions. I liked that one interview was in person so I could see the office and get a feel for how things work there.
- What contributions could you make to our team's project?
Academic Advisor
We did a group interview first and then some individual questions. They also asked us to do an Excel task and asked if we were team players and about our long-term plans.
- Could you describe your advising philosophy?
- Are you a team player?
- What are your long-term goals regarding this position?
Assistant Property Manager
I applied online through a Craig's list ad, submitting my resume and answering some questions. A few days later, I got a call asking if I was interested in an interview. I then had an in-person interview with the assistant manager. I feel like I answered their questions well and asked good questions myself.
- What makes you want to work in this role?
