Software Engineer
It was a long interview process, taking 4 weeks from the initial offer to the final job offer. I went through 2 technical interviews, one with a senior manager and another with HR. Everyone was professional and pleasant. I was interviewing for a position on the big data team. The interviewers were primarily interested in my knowledge of data structures, my problem-solving abilities, and my past work experience, specifically my approach to tackling challenges. The outcome was disappointing; although HR confirmed I passed all interviews, my current salary exceeded their maximum pay range. This was frustrating, as they were aware of my salary from the beginning, so I questioned why I was invited for three interviews if my compensation expectations were outside their budget.
- Discuss data structures such as maps, linked lists, and arrays.
- Solve a couple of small coding problems.
- Answer questions about database joins.
Software Engineer
I interviewed Northbay as a fresh graduate, the interview process consisted of four phases: 1. A technical interview upfront which assess your technical and problem solving skills. You need to rehearse the Data Structures, OOP and DB concepts for that. 2. Interview with Project Manager - A short interview with the Project Manager assessing your personality. 3. Interview with Director - A behavioral interview assessing whether you're cultural fit or not. 4. Interview with HR - A formality interview for discussing the offer.
- What is your motivation for joining Northbay Solutions?
- Describe how you manage pressure.
Software Engineer
There were 3 interviews in total. The first one was a 1-hour technical interview. If you passed that, you would have a second interview with the VP, which lasted about 15 minutes and was to check communication skills and if you could speak English. The third interview was with HR, also about 15 minutes long. Passing the first interview greatly increased your chances of getting hired.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Could you explain what inheritance is?
- What is the difference between an abstract class and an interface?
