Product Manager
I found NoRedInk through Diversity Tech, a job board for underrepresented people in tech. The compensation listed on the Diversity Tech job posting was $120-$150k. After completing the initial phone screen, I was informed that-- based on my experience and location-- the actual compensation would be $105-$114k. Given my experience in tech (7+ years) and the importance of this role to the company, I declined to move forward with the interview process. While I do appreciate the significant drop in compensation was communicated early in the interview process, I felt concerned that there would be such a huge discrepancy between what was advertised (especially on a job board for underrepresented people) and what was actually being offered.

- What are you looking for in your next role?
Product Manager
The initial interview with the manager was good and enjoyable. HR then informed me that I did great and that they would like me to perform a test that was to take about 3 hours. Way too early in the process to be ordering that and have someone waste their weekend ensuring this is completed to elect not to proceed. Obviously if someone has 9+ years of experience they know how to do the job. I have no problem with a test at the end of the interview process just to make sure I’m capable but to ask someone to spend that much time that early on in the process is unacceptable. Additionally the scenario had nothing to do with their product or even industry.
- Present several ways to enhance Craigslist within a 3-hour timeframe.
Product Manager
The first step was a take-home assignment where I had to create a product requirements document. After that, there were a few rounds that involved hypothetical situations a PM might face daily. Finally, there were some meet-the-team sessions.
- What are your ideas for enhancing the website's interest selection page?
