I applied online through Nordstrom's job site. It took a couple of months to hear back. They called to set up a video chat since I'm studying abroad. They sent an assignment where I had to discuss two trends for men and women and create a virtual Pinterest board for a 'fashion pull' (normally this would be in-store). The interview was set for the next week. They said they'd let me know by the end of the week, but I didn't hear back. I followed up, and the hiring manager let me know the final selections went to HQ. I didn't get the internship, but it was a good experience overall, though pretty stressful.

They got in touch about a month after I applied online. A manager conducted a phone interview and mentioned that everyone would be notified by the end of the month. After two weeks with no word, I called HR to check on the status. I was told they were still deciding and would contact everyone by the end of that week. Another two weeks passed without any contact, so I called again. This time, the HR person seemed unsure and promised to have someone knowledgeable reach out the next day. It's now been about two weeks since then, and I still haven't heard anything. I'm really disappointed because this is for the flagship store, and my experience applying at another location was much quicker and smoother, with my second interview already scheduled. While I understand if they chose other candidates, it's unprofessional to promise updates and then not follow through, especially when I've had to repeatedly call for information.

They really dig deep in this interview. You go into a private room where they'll ask you questions directly from a paper and jot down your responses. I spoke with the Visual Manager and her assistant. After our chat, they'll escort you to a specific department, give you a rolling rack, and an inspiration sheet, then ask you to put together outfits based on the trends shown. How you layer the outfits is super important*, and make sure to be meticulous with details, like how cuffs or sleeves are rolled, or a collar is popped, etc.
