I saw the job posting on Craigslist for a new store opening and applied online. I got an email the next day to set up an in-person interview, which I scheduled for about a month out. It was a group interview with 9 people. We met the managers and were told we'd watch a video and have two interviews. The first was mostly about my resume, why I wanted to work there, and some behavioral questions. Then I read about the stock and sales duties. After I asked if sales was commission (it wasn't), the second interview was all behavioral questions. The whole thing took about 2 hours. Three days later, I got an email asking for more info for a background check, and three days after that, I got a call with the job offer.

I was contacted over the weekend and missed their call. The employer didn't even bother to leave a voicemail and had even changed my application status to no longer being considered. A very bias, unfair, and passive aggressive decision on their part. Scheduled an interview with employer anyways. I hate the hiring manager idea to check in at the registers when the registers were not made for that. Waited in the long line with customers and customers were staring down at me--prematurely judging me. A Black customer lady kept looking at me like it was her business that I was in line and it made it felt like she was bullying me. Finally, some waiting hiring manager was not in one of those green uniforms--she had wore what she felt like that day. Asked a list of questions from paper regarding leadership skills, working on a team, and projects. They claim they are flexible but they are not--you have to find ways to take days off. A easy job overall with overrated interview questions, and I would work there if they don't bully me with the overnight schedule.
- How do you establish a connection with people?
- How do you demonstrate leadership abilities?
- What is your experience working as part of a team?

Applied via indeed.com for the stock team. Got an email to schedule a phone interview. It was a quick and easy interview, with about 3-4 questions, starting with my availability. Then, scheduled for an in-person interview the next day. I dressed professionally and answered questions confidently and happily. Although I applied for the stock team position, they said it was full, so I was offered the women's department role instead. After the interview, they showed me around and it was done. I waited 3 days and called to check my status, and they were about to call me that same day. I was officially hired!
- Can you share an instance where you demonstrated leadership?
