Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Nordstrom Rack.
Sales Associate
The sales interview process consisted of several rounds but was very straight forward. They are friendly toward people who don't have experience doing work in sales previously. They answered all of my questions with no judgement. A good process
- How do you handle new tasks or responsibilities?
Sales Associate
I went to their career fair event which was scheduled from 11 AM to 5 PM. I got there around 2 PM. Although the email mentioned it would take about an hour, it actually took closer to 2 hours. A lot of the time was spent just waiting for my turn. It felt like they didn't have enough staff to interview everyone, which caused the long waits. Since they were interviewing for different departments, it probably got pretty hectic for the staff with so many people wanting to interview. But once I got to interview, it was pretty straightforward. They asked general questions about retail sales, how I interact with customers, and my teamwork skills. Since it's Nordstrom, dressing in fashionable business casual is recommended. They offered me the job right then and there.
- How would you drive sales when customer traffic is low?
Sales Associate
You will be asked about 9 questions. A few of the most important ones are: Name a time you gave great customer service? Name a time you were in a team setting to have to get something done what was your role in the team and what was the outcome? What’s your availability? They will want to make sure you don’t have a life so they can call you in for every reason possible so if you like to work lots this is for you.
