I went through 3 interviews. First was with HR, then the Science department head and assistant principal. The last one was with the principal. They made me feel comfortable. The meeting with the department head was more informal and cleared up expectations of what they’re looking for. My teaching philosophy aligns with the school’s mission and vision.

I applied to this school, Mobile in Brazil, and heard back two months later for an interview. The interviewer didn't even introduce herself or explain the job or the school. She just asked me two basic marketing questions, and seemed confused by my answers, asking me to define marketing terms I used. She also refused to discuss the salary range and wouldn't let me ask any questions. The whole thing was over in 10 minutes, and then I got ghosted. Definitely a lot of red flags.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

I was interviewed by the Head of Secondary, the Department Lead, and the Assistant Head of Secondary. They were professional, spoke well, and were approachable. They asked the usual interview questions about things like differentiation and what inspires me to teach. Each person asked questions about specific areas – the department lead focused on subject-specific topics, the head of secondary asked about inclusion and management, and the assistant head asked about inspiration and behavior.

The interview process started with an online round with someone from their UK office, followed by an in-person meeting in Miami. Both interviews went well, and the interviewers were great. About two weeks after the in-person meeting, HR called to say they had positive feedback and wanted to schedule the next round. However, after that call, they went silent for another two weeks, and then I was informed they weren't moving forward with my candidacy without any explanation. It was frustrating to go from progressing to the next stage to being rejected with no feedback.
