I had a good first talk with a recruiter. I wasn't really looking but ed-tech and the perks sounded good. I asked if they had take-home projects since I was a bit rusty with interviews, and they did set me up with one that was pretty interesting. After I sent it in, they said the team liked it and wanted to meet me. Then I talked with an engineer about my solution, my thought process, the details of how I built it, and what I'd do differently with more time. That went well, and they wanted me to meet the CTO. I met with the CTO, and that conversation also went fine. Everyone seemed nice. But then things went downhill after the interviews. They said they weren't an interview-and-ghost company, but it seems they are. It's been a month, and I haven't heard anything. I messaged the recruiter a few times about feedback or a decision, but got nothing back. It'd be cool if companies would call people back. If there's feedback to help me improve for future interviews, that's great! I'm not expecting it though. If I'm not a good fit, that's fine! Just let me know. Please do better than this. So many places just ghost you after an interview, and I don't get it. I took time out of my day for your process, can't you take a few minutes to keep me updated?

So first there was this video interview thing, it was about 27 minutes long, and they asked me 6 questions. I got like 1:30 to prep for each and then 3 minutes to talk. After that, I had a 15 min zoom call where they explained the company and the internship details. The last interview was supposed to be with the hiring manager, but it got canceled, and then they told me they found someone else they thought was a better fit.

I had a nice time throughout the entire interview process even though I didn't make it very far. Caroline, who I spoke with for the initial phone screen, was helpful and always responded quickly. The two software engineers I met for the behavioral/technical part were also really nice and made me feel comfortable. From my conversations with the staff, it seems like they have a good company culture.
