First you talk to the recruiter. Then you do a take home test that's not too hard. Lastly, you have a final interview with the hiring manager where you go over your answers and talk about your technical knowledge and experience.

First, I had a quick phone chat where we talked about my background and what I can do. They also asked about my interest in the company and why I'm applying. After that, I got a technical test to complete, which was moderately challenging. The final step was an in-person meeting and a demo of my project.

Had a screening call first, which was pretty standard. Then, a few days later, got an email to schedule a test. The test had 4 questions, took a long time, but had hints. I finished it and got all 4 answers, although I used a hint on one. My code was good, and I made good observations and comments. I followed up regularly over the next few weeks. Unfortunately, they never called me back, possibly because I used a hint on one question. The most irritating part of this process is common here: they don't explicitly say 'we're not interested,' just leave candidates hanging. I'm giving a thumbs-down because they never say 'no thanks,' which is a pet peeve of mine. Everything else was good, or mostly good.

- Third question asked for an Excel object that has error finding the end of a multi-byte encoded string.
