Product Manager
I was referred by a friend of the VP, and the process kicked off with a nice recruiter chat. Then, things moved quickly to a hiring manager round. This interview ran way over the scheduled time, which the HM warned might happen. There were also some unexpected case questions thrown in. It would have been helpful to know about the extended time and the interview format beforehand. I also heard some concerning things about the role being a replacement for someone who was there a long time but was deemed 'not a good fit.' I didn't move forward to the next stage, which in hindsight, might be for the best.
- Can you describe how you would locate a needle in a haystack?
- Create a user journey for a blind individual using a taxi app.
Information Security Engineer
The interview process was pretty simple. The recruiter kept me updated. First, I had a recruiter screening call. Then, I had a call with the hiring manager, but it was someone else relevant to the role who picked up. We had a good chat about the job and my experience, but 30 minutes wasn't enough. The next interview was supposed to be a live coding session on algorithms, possibly on Codility. I found this odd for this type of role, as usually it's a take-home HackerRank or multiple choice. When I joined, the hiring manager said he wasn't ready for the test because of the language I chose and lack of time, so we did a standard interview instead. He didn't seem very prepared, asked basic questions, and didn't try to get to know me or dig into my skills. I tried to drive the conversation and ask him questions, but he wasn't very engaged. I didn't feel I got to show my suitability, and the interview ended after 20 minutes of the scheduled 45. I was told there'd be another interview, but I got a rejection email.
- Can you share a technical challenge you faced and how you overcame it?
Agile Operations Analyst
I had a phone screening with the recruiter first, which was mostly about my experience, where I'm located, and my salary expectations. After that, there was a one-hour video call with the hiring manager. We talked more about my background and the specifics of the job. They didn't say what came next in the process. The hiring manager seemed a bit dismissive and didn't really try to learn more about my Agile approach, even though they seemed to decide early on. I kind of hope they change their interviewing style. The recruiter was good to communicate with, but the rejection email was generic, and I haven't heard back about feedback yet.
- Could you explain what relative sizing means from your perspective?
- What's your background with administering tools?
- Can you share an instance when you had to tackle a challenging problem?
Product Designer
So I had a recruiter call where they asked a bunch of questions. First, they asked about my background, then moved on to logistical things like my current employment status, where I live, and what my salary expectations are. The recruiter was nice, but it felt like they were just reading from a script, which made me wonder if they were really interested in me as a candidate, or maybe I just wasn't the right fit.
