Assistant Manager
The interview process at National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) included a document verification, followed by a group discussion with 15 candidates, and then an interview. The final score is calculated based on Gate score (70%), GD (15%), and interview (15%).
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Are you currently employed?
- Tell us something about NMDC.
Assistant Manager
You can't learn much from assistant engineers who are just in-charge of shifts, and deputy managers don't really share knowledge. Managers and senior managers are too busy. This is true for trainees and new hires. You learn from service engineers and mechanics, and they have a lot of knowledge about machines. I learned this way. The same applies to the plants like crushing, screening, and loading. You have to take the initiative to learn. In the plant section, deputy managers and senior managers were helpful.
- NMDC is a place where you can truly gain knowledge, however, if you just want to pass time, no one will stop you.
- Plants are a good learning environment, but I personally feel that mechanical services is the ideal area for a mechanical engineer.
Assistant Manager
It was a bit technical and also had some HR questions. You should brush up on your Electrical Machines, especially induction motors and transformers. Be wary about HR questions as they might test you. People who are willing to settle are preferred, as they might stick with the company for a long duration.
- Could you discuss DC Motors?
- Can you explain Induction motors?
- Tell me about Transformers.
