I met with a Partner and some Associates. The interview went smoothly and was straightforward and fair. We discussed my coursework, grades, the type of work I was interested in, and my long-term career goals. Teamwork was a big emphasis.

First, there was an invite-only reception which acted as a screening. After that, they had callbacks. I got invited back for a callback, though I wasn't sure why they called me in again. The main recruiter was super nice and seemed real, but she wasn't the one who did the callback interviews. Of the two interviewers I met, one barely made eye contact and asked only one question the whole time, seeming annoyed and distracted by his food. The other interviewer, I'm pretty sure, went into it already deciding not to hire me because of my volunteer work on my resume, maybe thinking I wouldn't commit long-term to a firm job, even though I want to. The attorneys seemed to have good camaraderie, and the DC office was very nice. I can't fault Nixon Peabody based on this one experience. I really liked the reception, but given how condescending one interviewer felt, I'd probably not apply again.

I got this interview through my law school's on campus interview process. It was a brief, 20-minute interview with a partner and an associate. They mostly asked questions to get a feel for my personality, my interests, and if I would be a good fit with them and their firm. I didn't have time to ask any questions myself.
