First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Nissan.
Graduate Programme
The process was quite disorganized. I waited four months without any updates. While the portal indicated I had advanced, I received a generic rejection email. This role was below my qualifications, and I would have appreciated feedback. They were hard to contact, and it felt like they didn't value the effort applicants put in, which is a bad reflection on the company.
- Can you describe your typical application process and interview questions?
Graduate Role
It started with a values-based online test back in December. Then in early January, I got a short video interview. By early March, I was invited to an assessment day at a hotel in Sunderland. They even reimbursed travel expenses if you lived far away. The assessment day felt pretty relaxed. The staff tried hard to make us feel comfortable, which was nice considering it's a new place. There were 8 of us, some from inside Nissan and some from outside. We did two group activities. The first one involved splitting into teams to rank job roles by how valuable they are to society. The second group activity was longer, about an hour, where we had to plan a charity event. Staff watched us the whole time during these activities. Then, we had to give a presentation about a topical news story I picked to two staff members in a small room and answer a couple of questions. My advice: be creative with your news story choice. Lunch was a good chance to chat with the staff. After lunch, we had competency-based interviews with two staff members. They wanted specific examples from work or personal life showing we could do the job well. Make sure you research the role and the plant. Overall, it was as relaxed as these things get, the staff were friendly, and it seemed like they wanted to see how we handle stress, work in a team, and how well we prepared for the interview and presentation. I got the job offer by email 10 days after the assessment day.
- Can you share an instance where you convinced someone to take a certain action?
- Describe a situation where you utilized intricate data to resolve an issue.
Graduate Student
The interview process was highly competitive, with many people invited to the assessment center. The interview itself was mainly competency-based, with a couple of motivational questions at the start. During the assessment center, there was a group task and presentation in front of everyone, then another group task, and finally an interview.
- How do you think your friends and family would describe you?
