Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at NiSource.
Field Engineer
Standard pre-phone screening, then a virtual interview with the local engineering lead, a PE, and maybe a more senior engineer. Then you meet the rest of the team virtually too.
- What is your greatest weakness and how have you worked to overcome it?
Field Engineer
The interview process was straightforward, using the STAR format. Interviewers asked questions related to my work experience and were very friendly. They were well-organized, which helped me understand the role and its responsibilities. I also appreciated that they were flexible with scheduling.
- Can you describe a situation using the STAR method where you encountered a difficult technical issue in the field and how you resolved it?
- Please provide an example of when you worked with a team to fix a customer problem.
- How do you decide what to work on first when you have several urgent tasks?
Field Engineer
I had a WebEx call with three field engineers who took turns interviewing me. The interview lasted about an hour, and there was a good amount of time for me to ask questions. It wasn't too hard and felt pretty conversational.
- Can you share an instance where you were up against a time constraint?
