Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Nielsen.

The interview process was a complete waste of time. I went through two interviews, one with HR and another with a team leader, which I found quite unprofessional. While everything seemed to go well, the next step involved a 3-part task to be completed over Christmas, which was to be evaluated in a final interview. I spent a lot of hours on this task. The HR manager initially ignored my email with the attached work for a week and then said they would contact me the next day. Another week passed, and I received an automated email without any feedback stating that my application would not be progressing. It was a complete show of disrespect for the candidate and their time. The role and company didn't even seem appealing; I was just a bit desperate. I wouldn't suggest applying to this company.

After my profile was shortlisted, I got an email asking me to set up an interview using a link. The HR team then moved my interview to the next day. We had a nice chat where we talked about my skills compared to the job description, why I wanted to apply, my visa situation, what I expected salary-wise, and how to measure success in sales. The HR person also told me a lot more about the job and the pay.

I applied for this role in the UK and the whole thing took about a month, with 3 to 4 stages. It kicked off with a video interview where they hit me with 5 questions. You get 30 seconds to read each one and then 2 minutes to answer. After that, I had to do an advanced logic test, which was multiple-choice with 20 questions in 25 minutes, all about reading graphs – the real challenge was just the time limit. Next up was an online interview with 3 managers, covering my experience, motivations, and some situational stuff, plus a case study where I had to advise a client. Oh, and there was a fourth stage because one of the initial managers couldn't make it, so I had a final chat with a different manager. This last bit was mostly general questions about my background, and then a big chunk of time for me to ask them anything I wanted about the company and the job.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- Can you explain your understanding of this role?
- What makes you interested in working with innovation?
