First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Nielsen.
Project Manager
Got a call a few weeks after applying on LinkedIn. The HR screener was really robotic. Just asked the usual stuff: experience, goals, and what I'm looking for salary-wise. Then they sent over an online aptitude test, and that was it. Never heard back, so I guess I didn't make the cut. Would've been nice to get some kind of update though.
- Could you walk me through your experience?
- What are your interests?
- What makes you want to join Nielsen?
Project Manager
I was first reached out to by the director who was hiring for the role, and we had a 45-minute phone chat. A referral is what got me the interview. After that, a second phone interview was scheduled for almost an hour with two of the director's managers. It was a pretty relaxed interview, and we had a good amount of time to talk about the job, Nielsen, and the director's management approach.
- Can you elaborate on how you successfully finished a project that had been delayed for a year, especially when the previous person couldn't get it done?
- Tell me about a time you picked up a project that was significantly delayed and managed to complete it quickly.
Project Manager
Applied through the Nielsen website. Got an email from a recruiter within two days to set up a phone interview. Had a phone interview with the recruiter, and then the hiring manager the next day. A week after that, I came in for an in-person interview with the hiring manager, their manager, and a peer. The office was beautiful and the people were friendly, so it was a great experience.
- What do you do when you don't agree with your boss?
