First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Nielsen.
Market Research Interviewer
The interview process was quite lengthy, with a significant number of questions, including some behavioral ones. It's recommended to use the STAR response format. The interview was conducted over the phone initially, followed by a virtual interview, making for two interviews in total. The overall experience was neutral.
- Can you share an instance where you assisted a customer?
Market Analyst
It was a 3 round interview process. First was a phone call, then I had to do an analytic test using Nielsen and volumetric data (it was a self-test). Lastly, there was an onsite interview. I met with HR first, then separately with the manager, and then a manager who was not involved in the hiring. The whole thing took a few weeks. If you get the job, be ready for more tests and evaluations during the training program, like in-class sessions, online courses, and 3 analytic presentations in front of your colleagues.
- The analytic test included questions on basic logic, trend analysis, and volume analysis, as well as some specific Nielsen data and metrics.
- Basic logic questions were asked.
- Questions about trend analysis were asked.
Market Research Manager
I found out about Nielsen openings from a former coworker. I sent my resume and a cover letter to the email address they gave me. Within a week, HR reached out to schedule a phone call, which was a general personal interview. About two weeks later, the HR manager informed me that a technical interview with a regional expert was planned. This technical interview happened over the next two weeks, and then I got an offer email.
- Why have you changed jobs so often?
