Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Nicklaus Children's Health System.
Registered Nurse
Had a video interview with about 4-5 questions. You see the question before the video starts and are able to rerecord answers. Questions were situational based - like dealing with a difficult patient or a disagreement with a doctor etc.
- Can you tell me about a difficult patient you encountered and how you dealt with the situation?
- Describe a time you disagreed with a doctor and how you resolved it.
Registered Nurse
Interviewed for a NICU RN position. Spoke with 3 interviewers: hiring manager, nurse manager, and clinical nurse educator. They were friendly and answered my questions. It lasted about 30 minutes and was a really pleasant experience.
- Why do you think you are the best candidate for this role?
- What feedback would your previous manager give about your performance?
Registered Nurse
About two months before the official start date, an application for the Horizon Internship Program was put up on the NCH careers page. After you apply, if you get picked to move on, you'll get an email asking for a video interview with a couple of questions. This video interview is supposed to take the place of phone interviews and help weed out candidates who aren't a good fit. The video interview was pretty easy, and you could re-record your answers as many times as you wanted. Each answer should be under two minutes. If you make it to the final round, you'll be invited to an in-person panel interview with the heads of all the hiring departments within a couple of weeks after finishing the video interview. Candidates who are selected will be notified after all interviews are done. Once you get a job offer over the phone, you'll start getting a bunch of emails about the onboarding/hiring process. This includes filling out paperwork online, going to the employee health clinic for a physical, blood draw, and drug screen. You'll also need to visit corporate headquarters to sign the contract, get your picture taken for your ID, and get a parking decal for hospital grounds.
- Regarding your volunteer experience at the hospital, what can you tell me?
- Could you elaborate on your experiences on the oncology floor during your practicum?
- What specific details from your resume can you share?
