It was an okay process, pretty standard. They asked some interesting questions about the health system for kids and if I'd be interested in working with them. I'd suggest it for interns or anyone looking to get some experience in the health sector.

About two months before the official start date, an application for the Horizon Internship Program was put up on the NCH careers page. After you apply, if you get picked to move on, you'll get an email asking for a video interview with a couple of questions. This video interview is supposed to take the place of phone interviews and help weed out candidates who aren't a good fit. The video interview was pretty easy, and you could re-record your answers as many times as you wanted. Each answer should be under two minutes. If you make it to the final round, you'll be invited to an in-person panel interview with the heads of all the hiring departments within a couple of weeks after finishing the video interview. Candidates who are selected will be notified after all interviews are done. Once you get a job offer over the phone, you'll start getting a bunch of emails about the onboarding/hiring process. This includes filling out paperwork online, going to the employee health clinic for a physical, blood draw, and drug screen. You'll also need to visit corporate headquarters to sign the contract, get your picture taken for your ID, and get a parking decal for hospital grounds.

I received a call from HR to set up an interview. I arrived 15 minutes early and the initial part of the interview went smoothly. However, I was a bit let down because the HR person didn't seem fully briefed on the job specifics, like the exact location of the opening, and mentioned there would be a second interview. These details differed from what I was told when I initially spoke with HR over the phone.

I had a basic interview where they asked me some questions like, "why would you like to work with us?" and "tell us about a time you had a conflict with a customer and how did you handle it?". I wore business attire. They told me about the job, the pay, the benefits, and what would be expected of me.

  • What makes you want to work for this company?
  • Describe a situation where you encountered a conflict with a customer and explain how you resolved it.
