Behavioral Presentation

The interview process involved a recruiter, a manager, a director, and an optional but recommended meeting with an Account Executive, followed by a presentation. It was a pretty standard process where they quickly determine if you're a good fit. I really enjoyed it. The reason I turned down the offer was the On-Target Earnings (OTE). However, they did a great job with the offer negotiation; the recruiter and manager were very helpful in trying to get me the best possible offer. It felt like they really wanted me, but ultimately, the compensation was too far off. When it became clear we wouldn't reach an agreement, the recruiter proactively mentioned they might have a role soon with a more senior team that would be a better fit for my needs, which I appreciated. They were very upfront throughout the process. While some might have a negative view of the company, my experience was positive. I liked the hiring manager a lot, but the OTE just didn't work out. If they can get closer on compensation, I'd be eager to talk again.

Behavioral

I was initially contacted by a recruiter who took time to understand my background. At that time, he said my skills were transferable, even though I hadn’t sold in the exact industry before. He set me up with a call with the hiring manager, who was very conversational and friendly, but conducting the interview while in line at Starbucks. He asked to schedule a second call, which took some time to get on the calendar, but again was pleasant and went well. Recruiter called the following day to set up another call with SVP of Sales, and confirmed the schedule. The very next day I received an email from the recruiter canceling my interview, with a note saying they had an internal candidate. Very strange sequence of events.

I had a phone interview that lasted about an hour. It seemed to go well, and the hiring manager mentioned setting up a second interview with senior management and getting back to me about the timing. A few days passed with no word, so I followed up with HR about scheduling the interview. Then, I got a generic email thanking me for my time. I reached out to HR again to see if I'd received the email by mistake. It turned out the manager had changed his mind and decided to go in a different direction. It was really unprofessional and reflects poorly on them. I waited around for five days for the hiring manager to respond.
