Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at NHS England.
Administrative Assistant
The interview experience was terrible. Both interviewers seemed clueless about how to conduct an interview, and they even admitted it because one of them was ill. The only feedback I received was to elaborate on 'data protection'. I'm not sure what more could be needed beyond providing a definition, especially for a telephone job with minimum wage.
- Tell me about your understanding of data protection.
- What makes you interested in working with us?
- Can you give an example of your teamwork skills?
Personal Assistant
It was a good and thorough interview process. They communicated well throughout. I felt respected and valued. They asked some in-depth questions about my decision-making and personality. The interview lasted about 30 minutes via MS Teams and included the current PA and the person I would be assisting.
- Can you describe your understanding of confidentiality processes and data storage?
Administrative Assistant
I was given very little info beforehand, just to arrive 10 mins early to prep for a scenario question I would 'present' (it was really just another question). I was met by 2 people, a senior manager and the person currently in the role I was applying for. They were both really nice and funny. There were 10 questions total, a mix of competency, skills, and general ones. The panel was great, but I felt like they were rushing me through.
- Can you start by telling me about yourself?
- What is your understanding of this role?
- Could you explain your understanding of the ‘Lived Experiences’ programme?
