I had an initial HR call that lasted 30 minutes, followed by a team interview. The hiring manager round was skipped due to my prior experience. The interview process was quite thorough, involving 6-8 people ranging from CRA to VP. I had conversations with everyone, and it was a great experience.

It was multiple interviews. The first two were by phone: a pre-screening with Talent Acquisition, followed by a more comprehensive 1:1 interview with the Hiring Manager. The third interview was conducted over video with five people; 30 minutes each. All interviewers read through my resume, and asked a fair amount of questions about how each experience would contribute to the position I applied. Also each gave 3-5 minutes for me to ask questions like how the position would interface daily with each of their roles/departments.

I got lucky and knew someone at NGM, so my resume got to a hiring manager who I then spoke with on the phone. About a week later, I had a 90-minute Skype video call with the manager, a director, and a few other folks. They seemed to like me, so they invited me for an all-day onsite interview the following week. The day started with HR, then I gave a presentation to a group of scientists and associates, which went well and they asked good questions. After that, I spent about 5 more hours interviewing with various scientists and associates. I had lunch with some associates and they showed me around the labs. The interview wrapped up with a long chat with the hiring manager. Sadly, I didn't get an offer, though I really wanted to work there because everyone was so nice, the workspace and labs were great, and I especially liked the hiring manager and director. The team's belief in the company and its mission was really inspiring. I wish them all the best.

The interview process was pretty standard. It was a full day with a 1-hour seminar and then 30-minute meetings with staff members. I got a negative impression, especially since I traveled from out of state for this interview. The company said they would cover my ground transportation to and from the airport but never did, and they just ignored my emails after the interview. It's not about the money, it's about the company's culture and how they treat candidates.
