Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Nextpoint.
Lead Software Engineer
They do a good job of keeping the candidate in the loop about the company and what they're looking for. On my end, it felt like the interviewer was rushed and didn't really want to wait for full answers.
- Could you elaborate on your deep understanding of Javascript and React, specifically in a scenario-based context?
- I'd like to discuss in-depth questions about Javascript and React, along with scenario-based questions.
Software Engineer
The interview was setup with a third party team, which was not a good experience. The process appears broken. It doesn't test depth, and there's no interaction with the actual team; it's just judged based on rote memorization. The topics chosen aren't even actively used today. Definitely one of the worst interviews I've attended.
- Were generic questions asked that aren't relevant to the current usage of that stack?
Software Engineer
It started with an online general aptitude test, followed by another online general screening round. Then there was an online technical interview. The final round was an on-site HR/managerial round. The interviewer was a bit intimidating but manageable. The HR recruiter I communicated with was super helpful throughout and even gave me useful feedback after my interview, which was great for my future interview prep.
- Could you explain what a lambda operation is?
- For what purpose is pydantic used in Python?
- How would you reverse a string without utilizing any built-in functions?
