The interview was pretty chill. They had me build a basic CRUD Single-Page App for the technical part. Then, the actual interview mainly focused on cultural fit stuff, like how I got into CS and what I do in my free time. I was a bit bummed there weren't more technical questions.

I was connected to a recruiting firm through a personal contact. After talking with the recruiter about my skills and where I wanted to go in my career, they presented a few job options, including a Developer role at NextGear Capital. I picked NextGear and the interview was arranged. First, I had a 30-minute private chat with the CTO. Then, I interviewed with the current Development Director and a Senior Developer (Developer III). This second interview didn't involve any technical exercises. Instead, they asked about my skillsets, how I got them, the scale and complexity of projects I've handled, and my experience with Agile Scrum. The key things they look for are adaptability and the ability to pick up new skills fast. Having open source contributions is a big plus, and prior experience with enterprise-level apps is very helpful. Working on an Agile Scrum team is a good bonus, but not essential.
