The interview process started off with a call with an internal recruiter at Cox Automotive in Atlanta, followed by a peer-level video conference interview with Cox Automotive employees, and then finally on-site panel and one-on-one interviews in Carmel, Indiana. Based on the responses to questions I asked interviewers throughout the process, it was evident that there was misalignment between the Cox Automotive parent company and the NextGear Capital division in Indiana. This made me hesitant about the opportunity. The worst part of the experience was that I never received any response from the company after the interview, despite me following-up twice. This confirmed my concerns about the opportunity and the apparent communication issues between the Cox Automotive and NextGear Capital divisions.

I had a phone interview with someone from headquarters (Cox Automotive) in Atlanta. Then they scheduled a face to face interview with 3 people: the manager in charge, the team leader (direct supervisor) and another person fluent in Spanish. These people were nice, down to earth. I had a second interview with another random team leader who was assigned last minute to interview me, and someone who spoke Spanish to double check my fluency. Be prepared to learn a lot about how the business works, although the information is not clear on their website. They are open to talk about it. All interviewers were very friendly, not intimidating or threatening.

Behavioral Technical

The interview process started with a walk through a dark and dirty building. The first of two back-to-back interviews took place in a small room next to cubicles. This first interview was with managers and a director. The second interview was with potential future team members. The director seemed inexperienced and was quite rude. The managers were pleasant, and I could see myself working with them. However, the interview with the team members raised red flags because they complained about the company and their teams. After two hours with both groups, I decided I didn't want to join the organization.

Behavioral Technical

The hiring process is a bit long. It starts with a 30-minute phone screen. If that goes well, you'll have two in-person interviews, each lasting an hour. The first is behavioral, and the second is technical. They'll ask about your past work experience and skills listed on your resume. They might also give you a task related to the job and ask you to complete it or explain your approach.

  • What was your experience like at your previous employers?
