First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Nexteer Automotive.
Product Engineer
I was interviewed by engineering managers twice. It wasn't super technical but also wasn't just HR style questions. The whole process was pretty straightforward, with multiple groups involved, so a part of it was figuring out where I would end up.
- Can you discuss your prior work experience?
Engineer
I submitted an online application for Nexteer. The initial contact was a pleasant half-hour phone call with two interviewers, featuring a mix of technical and non-technical questions (about 80% technical). After a few months, I was invited for an on-site interview. This involved presenting my past projects to the engineering team, where my potential manager unfortunately made some disparaging remarks about my work. I also reviewed the company's organizational structure and learned about employee benefits. I then had a technical interview with two prospective colleagues, followed by separate interviews with an individual from a different department and then their engineering manager. The formal interviews concluded with a casual lunch with the interviewers. Afterwards, I was taken to the airport for my flight home.
- Were those projects completed by you, or did you initiate them?
Product Engineer
I first talked to some recruiters at a career fair, and they told me to come in for an on-campus interview a few days after. This interview was just me and one other person, and it was pretty simple. Since it was my first internship, they mostly asked me about my school stuff. Then a few weeks later, I got an offer through email.
- Can you explain the function of transistors?
