Coding

I applied online and was frustratingly sent an online coding assessment before even speaking to a human. I withdrew from the process since I'm not going to spend 3 hours on a coding assessment if I haven't even spoken to a recruiter to learn more about the role/company. Very frustrating to see NextCapital handle interviews like this when it's something that not even FAANG companies do anymore. Makes it feel like they don't really value you as a person if you don't even get to talk to a recruiter unless you prove your worth by scoring high enough on a test.

Coding Behavioral Technical Coding

First, there was a tough online coding test. Then, a multi-stage interview process. Engineering managers conducted a general interview, asking about my projects and teamwork. Junior engineers oversaw a whiteboarding session, which was easier than the first test but still challenging. Finally, there was another coding exercise. The managers were really nice, but the whiteboarding interviewers seemed annoyed, like it was a huge bother, and didn't even say hello. It wasn't a great vibe for tackling a hard problem, and honestly, I wouldn't want to work with those people.

Coding Behavioral Technical System Design

The interview process was smooth, fair, and comprehensive. It involved a hackerrank challenge with varied questions, a phone screen where they asked about my resume, a battery of onsite technical interviews to check coding ability, and a final technical phone interview about data modeling. The company was great at keeping me updated.
