The hiring process had five stages. It started with a recruiter screening call to check for general fit and discuss salary expectations. Next, there was a take-home assignment on CoderPad, which involved building a small React app using provided boilerplate code. While there's no strict time limit, it's suggested to take around 2 hours and be completed in one sitting. Following that, a technical interview with the Engineering Team took about 2 hours. This segment included a 15-minute chat with the VP of Software about Ordermark and any questions you might have. Then, there was a 45-minute session on CoderPad with a senior/lead engineer, focusing on solving small whiteboard problems using pseudocode to assess your thought process; extra time was available for questions if you finished early. Another 45-minute 'tech deep dive' with a different senior/lead engineer involved more whiteboard problems, similar in difficulty but requiring code execution. Again, early finishers could ask questions. After that, a 1.5-hour interview with the Product Team consisted of two 45-minute sessions with product team members, focusing on behavioral and culture-related questions. Finally, there was a brief 15-minute discussion with the CTO, which felt like a formality but offered a chance to meet top leadership and understand company priorities.

Coding

I was contacted by a recruiter and then spoke with an internal hiring manager. I was given a coding challenge on CoderPad. It wasn't timed, and I had ample time to test my code locally before submitting. I suspect the code wasn't reviewed by a person. I was told the tests weren't working and were passing, which was confusing since they passed when I tested locally. CoderPad kept throwing errors, and I couldn't debug. Not getting feedback was really frustrating after spending hours on clean code. I wouldn't have bothered if I'd known. The job market is crazy, and I regret wasting my time.
