The interview process started with a recruiter call, followed by a hiring manager interview. The recruiter mentioned some uncertainty about the exact requirements for the role due to differing focus areas within the team. The hiring manager didn't seem very engaged during our conversation.

I just had a really great interview experience with Next Insurance that I wanted to share. I was interviewing for a product role in their Palo Alto office, which is partially remote. The 5-person panel interview was well-thought-out, interesting, and challenging, and it seemed like each interviewer was assessing a specific skill needed for the job. The interviewers were all on the same page, and what they said about the company matched up. I also had the best experience with the recruiter I've ever had. She stayed in touch throughout the process, sending 'good luck' texts and offering helpful tips. She was friendly, knew a lot about the company culture and the interviewers, and gave genuinely useful advice. I'm not sure if I'll get an offer, but I'd definitely recommend this company.

Case

So the interview process was pretty bad. It started with a phone screen, then an interview with the lead PM, and then a call with the COO. I was told I was moving to the final round, which was split into two parts: a call with the COO the next day, and then an onsite super day four days later. But then, two days before the onsite, I heard they had decided to go with another candidate and canceled the final round. They asked me to meet with the COO the next day and have a final round onsite in the same week, which was super inconvenient. Canceling the onsite two days before is really bad etiquette and makes the company look bad. The business world is small, you know.
