I had a great time interviewing with Next Generation Marketing, but I turned down their offer for a different opportunity. They're a direct marketing company that promotes products at roadshows in the San Francisco Bay Area. I went to their office, filled out an application, and then spoke with the hiring manager. The whole thing was done in under an hour. I got an email to complete a personality profile, and after I sent it back to the hiring manager, I was invited for a final interview. This was a group interview. Their office is small but they always have music playing, which I thought was nice. Everyone I met was really positive and professional.

So, I had a phone screen, then a super short 15-minute in-person thing. They offered me a second interview the next day, but I said no 'cause I needed a real salary, not just minimum wage plus commission, which they said is how all entry-level jobs there start before you can get promoted from within. Honestly, I wish they'd been upfront about the pay and company structure from the jump. Their interview style is really fast – they see a ton of people and then just cut them down quickly. It's efficient for them, but feels like a lot of extra steps for us. The questions were direct, which I liked, but the whole thing felt impersonal and I didn't get all the info I needed. The second interview could've totally been a video call, it was so brief, and meeting in person didn't add anything. It was weirdly short, and I didn't even get to ask everything I wanted. Plus, I spent like 30 minutes filling out paperwork that should've been online. It made me doubt if I'd want to work there long-term, especially with the pay situation. So I backed out. To HR: you guys seemed nice, I wish I'd gotten to know you better. It felt like you were rushing because there were so many other people and not enough time. More clarity on the job in the posting would've been good. Maybe use more online tools like forms or video chats.

The interview process felt really rushed and didn't allow enough time to get to know me. It seems they look for overqualified people but offer low pay, which is strange for a marketing graduate to get minimum wage. The role is also really a sales position, which felt deceptive and dishonest.
