Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Nexstar Media Group.
Digital Producer
It was like 4 to 5 steps, and it took about a month. Most jobs take longer to get hired. I talked to the hiring manager first, then some other leaders next to mine, then a VP, and then they gave me an offer.
- Are you knowledgeable about corporate-level matters?
- Can you demonstrate a deep understanding of corporate functions?
Digital Producer
This was by far the worst interview process I have ever been part of. The hiring manager did not show up for the zoom interview TWICE! Reached out hours later to reschedule, called my home at 9pm to see if I was available to speak. They did offer me the job in New Heaven but the manager (the news director) was such a mess and the salary was so ridiculously low I decided to pass on their offer.
- Can you share an example of a high-pressure situation you encountered in a newsroom and explain how you managed it?
Digital Producer
The interview process was fine and there were no issues. The interviewers were professional and asked about my experience as a journalist. It was a quick interview with good questions. I didn't encounter any weird problems or anything like that.
- Can you confirm your writing skills?
